New business models driven by digitalisation, shorter delivery times, mass customisation, demand for personalised fabrics, expressing individuality, the partial move of retailers closer to local markets, re- and near shoring and new emerging or disruptive technologies are drivers for an increasing grow in Europe. In this context, we see that the world of textile printing is changing at a fast pace and makes significant gains. Globalisation, quick response and environmental restrictions place substantial demands on the various parts of the printing process. Moreover, digital printing is not only becoming successful for clothing (fashion, sport) but there is also an increasing interest in the digital printing of home textiles and even technical textiles for indoor or outdoor applications. This talk will highlight the actual and future trends of digital technologies, dealing with hardware, inkjet inks, the many developments making the digital technology not only successful for traditional players but also accessible for (new) SMEs companies and tech-starters. Finally, not only digital printing but also digital finishing/coating and dyeing are briefly discussed.
